My S/O knows me all too well. This is an early birthday present. I'll be making a sequel to my previous video of the '12 Golf R, 05 S2000, and '12 CRG Kart. Expect some aerial madness in the future month. Link to the video is below.

Congrats! That's an awesome quadrotor!!!! Three years ago I bought the drone that made drones popular:
The 2.0 edition is much improved over the 1.0 (I don't have a 2.0 yet, still rocking my 1.0)...

What is the GPS you are talking about? I'm new to the whole thing and trying to figure out upgrades.

Yeah this is just the 1.0 if I don't break it and keep using it, I'll definitely upgrade.

just something that will ping or whatever so you can locate it should it disappear on you.

Can't speak for your quadrotor, but I know many different drones are extremely resilient.
One day, a gust began taking away my AR.Drone. It was losing signal fast and no input was taking it out of the strong wind...so I hit the Emergency Stop and watched it take a 100ft dive as quick as a brick. It took a direct hit to the underside of motor 4. I thought the hard hit to the earth (dry, hard packed dirt) would've certainly killed it, but nope. Other than a chipped blade the thing was unfazed by the fall.

What type of batteries do you use, and type of charger?

My AR.Drone uses its own kind of proprietary battery and charger. Not sure it they would work in other brands...
